When I saw the new cover for Are You There God, It’s Me, Margaret? in Entertainment Weekly, I couldn’t help but compare to the version I had when I read the book. Would any kid pick up that cover today? Probably not.
I went to an event at the bookstore BookCourt in Brooklyn last weekend. Something about the way the books were organized on the shelves sent me into a buying frenzy. So now I have two rotations of TBR lists: I have my romance books — and this weekend I am lucky enough to be reading an ARC of The Descent by Alma Katsu (Jan. 7 pub) and the upcoming Wanted by Julie Kenner (Dec. 16 pub)– the first in her new trilogy. But I’m also halfway through reading The Circle by Dave Eggers (love it, though very disturbing. I read a review that said it’s the 1984 of today and absolutely is!) and also have Goldfinch by Donna Tartt on deck. Also, in anticipation of the upcoming Flowers in the Attic movie on Lifetime (can NOT wait!), I want to re-read the novel. So if I don’t make it out of the apartment for a few days (week?), you know why.
